The relationship between an artist and a collector should be just that — a relationship. Every acquisition begins a conversation, and I’d rather it begin properly.
I’m grateful for the people who take an interest in this work — those who’ve lived with it for years, and those encountering it for the first time. A painting leaves the studio and enters a life I’ll never fully see: hung in a room, lived alongside, eventually passed on. That’s not a small thing, and it’s the part of this practice I take most seriously. I’m selective about what leaves the studio, and I’d rather a painting find the right room than the quickest one.
